During the winter I often get a longing for the discernible taste of fresh grilled food. I live in Michigan, however, and the prospect of running outside in the freezing cold to tend the grill isn’t too attractive. To that end, I have found a way to circumvent the traditional system and enjoy grilled food year round.
Most people are probably assuming I will be touting some product like the Foreman Grill, but in my opinion, this product does an inadequate job of creating an authentic grill flavor. I prefer to use grill pans on my stovetop when I grill indoors. This effectively simulates the open grill cooking and allows me to cook scrumptious steak, burgers and chick anytime of the year.

Now that colleges around the country are back in session, many students find themselves presented with plenty of food options. While it’s easy to fall into a trap of an unhealthy diet born out of convenience, it’s quite simple to create gourmet meals in a snap. In fact, you’ll still have plenty of time to study or party until the break of dawn. Just bust out some of the student cook’s secret weapons: grill pans. The following grilled fish sandwich recipe can be prepared to eat on the spot, or saved for lunch on the go.
Ingredients:
1 cup cooked cod
1/3 cup mayonnaise
¼ tsp. salt
butter
slices of bread
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce – or a dash of horseradish
2 Tsp. onion, chopped fine
1 tsp. lemon juice
Directions:
1. Flake the fish together with the mayonnaise, salt, Worcestershire sauce, onion and lemon juice.
2. Spread the mixture onto a slice of bread and spread butter on the outsides. Pan fry the sandwich on a grill pan until it achieves a golden brown color.
3. Any leftover spread can be saved in the refrigerator.

Let’s face it I don’t know how to work most kitchen equipment, and either do many other single men out there. Growing up I never really explored the kitchen, Mom took care of all that stuff. Maybe I was a little spoiled. I admit learning how to use a griddle to make pancakes, or an oven to bake cookies would have made it more convenient to enjoy all my favorite snacks as an adult.
Whenever I visit home Mom tells me she will teach me how to cook, but I really feel like it’s too late. Fast-food isn’t healthy, but at least it’s quick! Maybe if Mom actually buys me a griddle for Christmas this year I will take to time to learn how to cook.

I love using a griddle for cooking. Especially when it comes to family breakfasts or big get togethers. With such a huge cooking surface I can easily clean it just by wiping it down. I don’t even have to cool it off first and then wait for it to reheat. If you’ve ever cooked for a group then you know how challenging it can be when the cooking surface space runs low.
Enter Lodge Logic griddles, on sale no less, and the problem is solved! Offering speed, convenience and superior quality cooking this is one tool no home should be without. Take a look and see for yourself how a cast iron griddle can make your family cooking more family fun!
