Don’t Buy To Big

Posted on 22 April 2012 by Mark

I just went to an auction on Friday where they were selling hundreds of items.
One item they were selling was a huge cast iron dutch oven. This thing was so
massive, the lid must have weighted 30 pounds. The whole thing was probably
around 75-80 pounds. Before you purchase any cast iron products, make sure
it is the size you want and will fit your needs. Also, look at the weight. If you are
going to camp with it, you will be moving it around a lot. Bigger is not always
better, just buy what you need and what will fit your means.

Buying Cast Iron Cookware

So you want to buy some discount cast iron cookware because
you want to save some money. There are two ways to do it. If
you want to buy new, look for a set that contains 3 or more pieces.
Things are always cheaper in bulk. The second way is to go to garage
sales and flea markets. Many people sell cast iron at these. You need
to keep a sharp eye for what you want. Most people will walk away from
a piece if it is rusted or looks to old. Don’t do that. Those old, rusted
pieces have a lot of life left in them. They can all be cleaned of the rust
and re-seasoned and you will have a great discounted piece of cast iron
cookware that will last you the rest of your life.
